About Impactive

Impactive, backed by YCombinator and Higher Ground Labs, was founded in 2017 as a get-out-the-vote tool for Democrats. Impactive has since expanded to become a distributed organizing platform allowing anyone to make an impact for the causes and candidates they care about. Our thesis is that grassroots activism at scale is better at changing hearts and minds than political ads. We empower activists with technology to make it easy to mobilize in a way that is both impactive and coordinated with the campaigns and organizations that have been doing this vital work for decades.

Columbia University’s Data Institute recently estimated Impactive's cost per vote at $2, making our method the single most effective form of organizing. Impactive has been covered by The New York Times, Washington Post, TechCrunch, Fast Company, and many more.

In 2020, Impactive worked with over 900 campaigns and organizations including Planned Parenthood, SEIU, Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote, DCCC, DSCC, DNC, and presidential campaigns.

About the Role

Impactive is leading a new organizing initiative in partnership with the CDC Foundation that aims to increase vaccine trust and uptake in communities of color, specifically the Black and Latinx communities. The initiative will launch in a number of pilot cities, beginning in Compton, CA and the DMV area.

Impactive’s Mobilization Manager will oversee this partnership with the CDC Foundation during our initial pilot and throughout our six month partnership. The Mobilization Manager will support local organizations and partners to implement mobilization strategies, including peer-to-peer texting and broadcast texting campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Mobilization Strategy: Craft and execute mobilizing plans for pilot cities.
  • Manage Tactical Peer-to-Peer Program: Build peer-to-peer universes, and craft messages/scripts, in partnership with local organizations.
  • Manage Broadcast List Building Efforts: Work in partnership with local organizations to grow a broadcast subscriber list, and craft relevant content to ensure universes can sign up for vaccine appointments.
  • Implement a Digital Training Program: Provide training to local partners on digital organizing best practices, and run training for volunteers on a weekly basis.
  • Analyze Program Effectiveness: Work with data staff to analyze the impact of mobilization tactics in partnership with the CDC Foundation, local partners, and Impactive.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidates for this position have 2-4 years of campaign experience, understand organizing and power building in communities of color, and have a demonstrated ability to foster an environment of collaboration and teamwork. This is a remote, short-term campaign that will end in June 2021, with the possibility to extend.

  • At least two years of digital organizing experience, either in electoral politics or issue advocacy.
  • Strong network within the political, advocacy and/or nonprofit communities.
  • Experience crafting, overseeing, and implementing a mobilization program.
  • Commitment to racial justice and equitable organizing.
  • Extensive lived experience working with and organizing in communities of color, in particular Black and Latinx communities.
  • Empathetic to the daily rigor and short-term demands of a start-up and able to tie these to long-term, strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to run trainings and work on evenings and weekends.

We don’t expect each candidate to have expertise in every single one of these areas — we’re looking for candidates who are strong in a couple of areas, and are passionate about learning and growing in others.

We eagerly accept applicants with diverse backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives. Impactive is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate our employees’ differences, and know that differences — of all kinds — make us infinitely stronger.

Compensation and Work Environment

  • $40 per hour
  • Flexible work hours and environment
  • Collaborate with a dedicated and inspiring team of passionate activists, organizers, and technologists working to make a difference

Applications for this position will be accepted on a rolling basis and the position will remain posted until filled. We strongly encourage applicants to apply by March 28, 2021.
