About Impactive

Impactive, backed by YCombinator and Higher Ground Labs, was founded in 2017 as a get-out-the-vote tool for Democrats. Impactive has since expanded to become a distributed organizing platform allowing anyone to make an impact for the causes and candidates they care about. Our thesis is that grassroots activism at scale is better at changing hearts and minds than political ads. We empower activists with technology to make it easy to mobilize in a way that is both impactive and coordinated with the campaigns and organizations that have been doing this vital work for decades.

Columbia University’s Data Institute recently estimated Impactive's cost per vote at $2, making our method the single most effective form of organizing. Impactive has been covered by The New York Times, Washington Post, TechCrunch, Fast Company, and many more.

In 2020, Impactive worked with over 900 campaigns and organizations including Planned Parenthood, SEIU, Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote, DCCC, DSCC, DNC, and presidential campaigns.

About the Role

Impactive is leading a new organizing initiative in partnership with the CDC Foundation that aims to increase vaccine trust and uptake in communities of color, specifically the Black and Latinx communities. The initiative will launch in a number of pilot cities, beginning in Compton, CA and the DMV area.

Impactive’s Program Director will oversee this strategic partnership during its initial ten week pilot, with the possibility of extension throughout our six month partnership. The initiative will leverage organizing tactics, including relational organizing, as well as mobilization tactics such as SMS and broadcast texting programs to reach communities of color. The Program Director will manage a small staff of organizers and volunteers to implement the initiative alongside local partners.

  • Direct Organizing Strategy: Lead on the strategic implementation of organizing and mobilization efforts within communities of color across the country.
  • Manage a Nationwide Team of Organizers: Hire and manage a team that will work in partnership with and directly within local communities.
  • Oversee Campaign Efficacy and Reporting: Create and implement systems for accountability, tracking, and reporting progress on goals and metrics.
  • Provide Strategic Organizing Perspective: Recommend programmatic shifts as needed in accordance with program objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidates for this position have 4-8 years of campaign experience, understand organizing and power building in communities of color, and have a demonstrated ability to foster an environment of collaboration and teamwork. This is a remote, short-term campaign that will end in June 2021, with the possibility to extend.

  • At least four years of campaign leadership experience in organizing and/or mobilization, either in electoral politics or issue advocacy.
  • Strong network within the political, advocacy and/or nonprofit communities.
  • Led and managed complex organizing or campaign work in the electoral, advocacy, or public health sectors.
  • Commitment to racial justice and equitable organizing.
  • Extensive lived experience working with and organizing in communities of color, in particular Black and Latinx communities.
  • Empathetic to the daily rigor and short-term demands of a startup and able to tie these to long-term, strategic initiatives.

We don’t expect each candidate to have expertise in every single one of these areas — we’re looking for candidates who are strong in a couple of areas, and are passionate about learning and growing in others.

We eagerly accept applicants with diverse backgrounds, experiences, abilities, and perspectives. Impactive is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate our employees’ differences, and know that differences — of all kinds — make us infinitely stronger.

Compensation and Work Environment

  • $1,500 - $2,000 per week stipend, depending on experience

  • Collaborate with a dedicated and inspiring team of passionate activists, organizers, and technologists working to make a difference
