Community Change Action (CCA) is a national advocacy organization committed to building the political power of low-income communities and communities of color. Since 2019, CCA has utilized Impactive to foster deep civic engagement across its network of nearly 100 local partners. Across multiple election cycles, the organization has deployed relational organizing, texting, and phonebanking to support its mission of transforming policy through grassroots power.
Relational organizing has long been central to CCA’s theory of change. As one of Impactive’s earliest adopters, CCA built out a distributed network model in which local partners were equipped with licenses, training, and ongoing support. Local partners use the platform in different ways. Some focus solely on relational outreach, while others layer in peer-to-peer texting, phone banking, or broadcast messaging. By embedding digital tools in local organizing infrastructure, CCA helped partner organizations tap into trusted relationships and expand their voter engagement work on their own terms.
In 2024, CCA worked with Impactive to launch a custom feature: relational postcards. This tool allowed volunteers to send physical postcards to their friends and family, each with a personal message - and even a personal photo! The feature added a tactile and creative form of participation to CCA’s digital programs and was enthusiastically adopted by local partners as an accessible and personal outreach tactic. The success of postcard relational reflected CCA’s broader strategy of using technology to enhance and scale in-person connection through multiple channels.
A LONGSTANDING PARTNERSHIP ROOTED IN IMPACT
CCA’s model has resulted in one of the most sustained and distributed implementations of Impactive to date. From Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada Action’s last-minute voter contact blitz to Michigan Liberation’s two million peer-to-peer texts in a single cycle, the network has demonstrated how digital organizing technology can flex to meet the needs of different communities. In 2022 and 2024, CCA partners ran layered campaigns that combined relational messaging with volunteer recruitment, community surveys, and voter education through coordinated templates and centralized action tracking.
Across these cycles, CCA sent over 22.1 million text messages, made more than 219,000 calls, and reached over 9.5 million people using Impactive. With over 100 partners driving engagement through locally grounded programs, CCA has built a national model for digital organizing rooted in relationships.
The Iowa Senate Majority Fund used Impactive to boost voter mobilization and drive a 3x return on their fundraising texts ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
The DCCC used Impactive for relational, texting, and calling across all battleground campaigns nationwide.
In just three months, Impactive delivered a custom, white-labelled app called Vote Joe, built to mobilize supporters through relational outreach during the height of the pandemic.
